About the Job
Oswego County Social Services has an immediate opening for a Case Manager to be responsible for providing social work services to a caseload of clients, with identified barriers to self-sufficiency including but not limited to mental health diagnosis or substance use disorder.  Starting with a thorough evaluation of strengths, challenges, and readiness for recovery, the incumbent assists assigned clients by assuring they have appropriate supports, services, and opportunities to address their needs, and achieve their goals, while residing in a community setting. 
 
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, human services, or a closely related field; OR 
  • Bachelor's degree including 30 credit hours in the behavioral sciences (psychology, sociology, anthropology, counseling, criminal justice, gerontology, human behavior, social work, or vocational rehabilitation); OR 
  • Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience in social casework or human service counseling; OR 
  • Associate’s degree and three (3) years of experience in social casework or human service counseling. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: 
  • Possession of a current, valid, New York State driver's license at time of appointment.  
  • Maintenance of license required throughout the course of employment. 
 
This title has been approved to be filled without the need to take an exam for a limited period through the HELP Program. Candidates appointed permanently to this title will NOT need to take an exam and will remain in their position even when the HELP Program ends.
 
Pay Rate: $26.27 per hour plus competitive benefits package including: health, life, dental and vision insurance; NYS Retirement; and Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
