About the Job
The Oswego County Highway Department has an immediate opening for an Equipment Mechanic to make skilled repairs and adjustments to automotive equipment and other machinery. The work involves responsibility for the overhaul and repair of a variety of automotive equipment and requires a thorough knowledge of the trade.  
 
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or certificate in automotive technology or diesel equipment technology; OR Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and one (1) year of experience in skilled automotive repair. 
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
  • Eligibility for a Class B New York State driver's license at time of appointment.  
  • Possession of a Class B NYS driver’s license within twelve (12) months of appointment with appropriate endorsements as required by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for the class of vehicle being operated.  
  • Once obtained, maintenance of license required throughout the course of employment.
 
Pay Rate: $27.45 per hour plus competitive benefit package including health, life, dental and vision insurance, and NYS Retirement.
