About the Job
The Oswego County Solid Waste Department has an immediate opening for a Light Operator to perform a variety of specialized manual tasks related to the operation of one or more types of light automotive equipment. The work may involve the skilled use of various tools and equipment, the responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of light motor equipment and a variety of other related manual tasks. General instructions are received regarding what tasks to perform permitting some leeway for proper execution. The work is performed with a minimum of direct supervision. The incumbent does related work as required.
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma; OR Six (6) months of experience in the maintenance and repair of bridges or other structures involving the use of similar tools and equipment, general labor, grounds maintenance or the operation of light automotive equipment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
- Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license at time of appointment.
- Maintenance of license required throughout the course of employment.
Pay Rate: $26.44 per hour plus competitive benefit package including: health, life, dental and vision insurance; NYS Retirement; and Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
